Because parents and families are entrusting us to deliver a high quality educational service to their children, we want to make sure that we recruit not just the best people, but the right people, to become our franchisees. We want to make sure that we're right for you, and that you're right for us. The process from attending an Information Meeting to being selected for training can be finalised within weeks.
If you are interested in becoming a Kumon franchisee and think that we would be a good fit for each other, take the following steps:
1. Come and meet the team
Attending a Kumon Information Meeting is the first step for our franchisee recruitment team to get to know more about you and for you to get to know about us. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the Kumon brand, meet the people who will be supporting you in your journey as a Kumon franchisee, and ask the questions that have been on your mind about owning a Kumon franchise. To register now, click here.
After you have attended an Information Meeting, you will be invited to sit our mathematics and English tests. These two 30-minute tests cover a range of questions from primary to middle school level. As the questions test the basic arithmetic and reading comprehension skills required to instruct our mathematics and English programmes, we require that you pass both mathematics and English tests in order to be considered further.
Applicants who pass the tests are required to complete an online Information Request before being invited to interviews. This provides us with information about the attributes you possess that are necessary for success as a Kumon franchisee.
Our two-stage interview process allows you to meet the people from our state offices who will be supporting you. It allows us to get to know you and assess whether you are a good fit for Kumon and whether Kumon is a good fit for you. Each interview takes approximately 90 minutes. Candidates who successfully complete the interview process will be invited to attend our franchisee training.
5. Negotiation of sale (if applicable)
If you are buying an existing Kumon franchise, negotiation with the outgoing franchisee can begin after successful completion of the interview process.
6. Franchisee training
Held at our National Training Centre, our New Franchisee Training takes place over two four-day sessions in a three week period. You will begin your Kumon journey with other new franchisees from around Australia and New Zealand in a supportive learning environment and you will also get to know some of the Kumon Australia and New Zealand staff who will be supporting you as you develop your franchise. Once you successfully complete your New Franchisee Training, you will be ready to operate your own Kumon Education Centre.
7. Signing of Franchise Agreement and Centre Opening
Once you have passed New Franchisee Training, you are ready to sign your Franchise Agreement and pay the franchise fee. Then, within three months of completing New Franchisee Training, you will open your own Kumon Education Centre for the very first time. Congratulations!
